Handbag du Jour Twitter & Facebook giveaway - Botkier ‘Jaden’ and ‘Stevie’ hobos

It’s been fun bringing you hot handbag news and reviews, served fresh daily! To thank you for reading, following us on Facebook and Twitter, and sharing in our handbag love, we’re giving away not one, but two Botkier handbags!

The first is the Botkier Jaden hobo in metallic bronze (retail value: $545). This large hobo bag is made of textured metallic leather with ruching down the front and on the single shoulder strap. The front also has two large pockets with hidden magnetic closures, and a metal embossed Botkier logo hangtag on strap. Inside this 15″ x 14″ x 6″ bag is a roomy interior with signature Botkier logo lining, a large zip pocket, two slip pockets and a chain link key fob.

The second is an oldie but goodie - the silver nylon sateen Botkier ‘Stevie’ large hobo (retail value: $475). This hobo features nylon sateen fabric trimmed with patent leather and polished pewter colored hardware. There are two ruched pockets with magnetic closure along the front, a leather strap woven through grommets and four metal feet along the base and a 20” patent leather single shoulder strap. The zip top closure opens to reveal a jacquard logo lining with four interior pockets. Measures 17¼” x 11” x 3¾”.

I recently purchased the Onna Erlich Renee Croco hobo, on sale at ideeli, and loved it so much that I had to check out the designer’s website for more information on her handbag line.

Algerian-born Yves Saint Laurent is regarded as one of the greatest French fashion designers of the twentieth-century. Interested in fashion from a very early age, Laurent submitted three sketches to a contest for young fashion designers organized by the International Wool Secretariat. Though only 14 years old at the time, he took third prize and traveled to Paris to receive his award. Here, he met Michel de Brunhoff, the editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, who encouraged the young designer to relocate to Paris and study fashion.

Laurent followed Brunhoff’s advice and moved to Paris to work for Christian Dior. Laurent’s innate talent shone through and he became the head designer for the label at only twenty-one, after the untimely death of the master. Backed by this experience, Yves Saint Laurent founded his self-titled label in 1962 with partner Pierre Berge. Laurent produced clothes of striking beauty infused with classic sex appeal. From his famous Piet Mondrian shift dresses to his revolutionary tailored tuxedo suit for women, his collections and accessories soon became famed for their daring but elegant looks, a reputation that still holds true today.
