Haute or not: Foley + Corinna’s Cargo bag
February 24, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments
As much as we love clutch bags, chic as they are, sometimes they can be a bit impractical. But we expect it – clutches are small and cute and only meant to hold the basics for going out (keys, money, credit cards, lip gloss, and cell phone). But when we buy a hobo, our expectations are that it go beyond a clutch - and hold a lot. That said, we think the Foley + Corinna Cargo Bag ($495) is one of the poorest excuses for a hobo, or a handbag for that matter. This has to be one of the most ridiculous bags we’ve ever seen. Haute or Not: J.J. Winters Chain Fringe Bag

We know J.J. Winters is the go-to brand for boho bags. We’ve seen their fringe hobos on the arms of Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Haylie Duff. Juicy Couture Larchmont Hobo
February 1, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Juicy bag (or Juicy anything, for that matter) that didn’t scream ‘teenage girl’. But the Juicy Couture Larchmont Hobo is one Juicy bag we wouldn’t be too embarassed to carry.
Made of a sueded, slightly distressed leather, this teal shoulder bag features a double buckled strap detail down the front and along the sides, with a fold over flap pocket. The flap has a leather tab covered in antiqued brass studs and a logo padlock. The color, material and hobo silhouette are all perfect for spring.

Everything’s better in pink: the resort 2010 Jimmy Choo Mandah Expandable Hobo
November 13, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
It’s true - everything is better in pink! Jimmy Choo recently unveiled its resort collection which included a remake (ok, a new color) of the popular Mandah hobo. You’ve already seen the bag - Halle, Fergie, J. Lo and Jessica Alba each have one. All the details are the same - but the Mandah just looks so much fresher in hot pink! It’s the perfect color for resort, but wear throughout the winter and into spring too. The suede and calf leather combo makes the bag fitting for any season, and do you really need a reason to have a pink bag in your life? Read more
Bag Lady: Chain Reaction
November 12, 2009 by Sally Awosika · Leave a Comment
They say once you go chain you never go back. Ok. Maybe I said it but, it’s true. I can remember my first chain bag, the Marc Jacobs Quilted Stam bag. Marc and I were inseparable for at least 2 months, until I saw my next door neighbor commit the ultimate sin; buying a knock off version on 5th Avenue. When I got my Lanvin Python Happy Partage last year, I knew this was it. Next thing you know, Lanvin introduced me to Nina Ricci’s Pony Bag. Although I only wore it once, it’s my favorite by far.
Every now and again I like to rearrange my closet: from light to dark colors, in alphabetical order, by fabrics, and even by price. My chain collections never really fell into any of the categories. So, I decided to make a special section for them.
10 nails and 1 hammer later I hung them all up. To my surprise, there was one nail without a bag. I could simply take the nail out and call it a day or buy my latest obsession: the Christian Louboutin Marianna Nappa Hobo.
Later that week, I found myself at Home Depot shopping for more nails.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Bombay Mevie is your best new Fall bag
August 4, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

There are distinct differences between the Marc by Marc Jacobs and Marc Jacobs Collection handbag lines. The former is the funky retro diffusion line and the latter is for the slightly more refined (dare I say slightly stuffy?) woman. It’s no secret that I personally prefer the Marc by Marc line for its cool and fun hipster style but find sometimes that these bags are a little too much fun and while they make great weekend bags, they’re not at all work-appropriate. And the MJ collection bags, like the Stam, are at times too ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ for me. So what’s a bag lover to do? Read more

Not Haute: the See by Chloé Oversized Denim Slouchy hobo
April 29, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Designers are insistent on bringing back tacky trends that should have never been popular in the first place. Jelly shoes. Stirrup pants. Venetian blinds sunglasses. And stonewashed denim. The fashions are bad enough - but to incorporate these trends into a handbag is even worse. Meet the terribly tacky See by Chloé Oversized denim slouchy hobo. Read more
