Is this an SJP creation? Much as we love her style, we were highly skeptical about her being named Creative Director of Halston Heritage. And if this bag is a shining example of her work with the brand, then we’re sorry to say that we were right. The Halston Heritage Sequin Folded Clutch ($195) is pretty hideous. We have mixed feelings about sequinned anything, and the small gold sequins covering this clutch looks pretty gaudy. Read more

Dinner and drinks with the girls last night, it was time to let my bag down (literally). I finally had a reason to whip out one of my many clutches. Hobo after satchel, tote after flap. I needed a time-out on my everyday gear. Please, don’t get me wrong, I love all my bags and I would never take them for granted, but clutches need love too.

Steal du Jour: Nordstrom Ruffle Chiffon Frame Clutch

Evening clutches are typically expensive and so not worth the money. Realistically, you’re probably only going to carry the bag a few times a year because they aren’t big enough to carry your normal day-to-day stuff anyway. So why shell out tons of bucks for a special event bag? Nordstrom proves that great evening bags CAN be both chic and cheap. The Nordstrom Ruffle Chiffon Frame Clutch is simply adorable, and affordable. For $78, you get a layered silk chiffon petaled frame clutch topped with a translucent, bow-shaped clasp. The red is my fave - it also comes in black and champagne but the red is so adorable! The bag also has a drop-in chain strap and interior slip pocket.

Haute Bag of the Week: Yves Saint Laurent Spiral Clutch

Most handbags should be at the very least, practical. I mean, there is a point to carrying them – it’s to hold your things. But some bags are purely for design purposes. I admit I own a lot of these largely impractical bags, simply because they’re so darn cute. Like this one – the Yves Saint Laurent Spiral Clutch. I can’t imagine that anyone would ever buy this for the purpose of carrying your things around. You’d only buy it because it’s a bag that looks like a haute couture fashion notebook! Made of glossy vernice patent leather, this clutch has a spiral bound design with silvertone hardware, magnetic flap with a snap closure and suede lining. It measures 9½”W X 6″H X 1½D.
