D&G Dolce and Gabbana Mindy Satchel in Black/Brown/Luggage
March 4, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
I can’t decide whether or not the D&G Dolce and Gabbana Mindy Satchel in Black/Brown/Luggage is the most ingenious bag I’ve ever seen or one of the most ridiculous. The concept is this: a basic black leather satchel is accessorized with three pockets stacked on the front. Read more
Enter to win the gold Onna Erlich Half Sara clutch
March 3, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
I love online sample sales because it gives me a chance to discover designers I might not have previously known about. I recently purchased the Onna Erlich Renee Croco hobo, on sale at ideeli, and loved it so much that I had to check out the designer’s website for more information on her handbag line.
The namesake Onna Erlich collection launched in 2004, inspired by the designer’s Nigerian heritage, combined with the laid-back vibe of California. Her collections include handbags made from carefully selected lambskin, patent and croc or snake-embossed leathers, fabrics and custom hand-beadwork made in the USA. With a celebrity following including the likes of Paris Hilton, Halle Berry, Lindsay Lohan, Marcia Cross, Sophia Bush, and Eva Longoria, Erlich’s handbag collection is certainly one to watch.
Now the designer has partnered with Handbag du Jour to give you the chance to take home one of her amazing bags! Click this link to enter to win the Onna Erlich Half Sara Clutch in gold with wrist strap (as seen on Paris Hilton). You must mention that you heard about the giveaway from Handbag du Jour to be entered. Retail value of the clutch is $275. Contest ends on Wednesday March 31, at 11:59 pm EST. Winner will be selected on or after April 1, 2010.
In the meantime, check out more of Erlich’s haute handbags below and on OnnaErlich.com.

The Sang A. Hand-Painted Eel River Tote makes a strong statement
March 3, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
If you’re going to invest in a statement bag, then it better make a strong statement. And the Sang A. Hand-Painted Eel River Tote bag certainly does. This bag is uber-haute, and there’s several reasons why. First, it is the roomy Sang A. River tote silhouette which, in itself, is a pretty great bag with its large shape, long double rolled handles and signature rectangular gold zipper pull. Add to that the luxurious exotic skin exterior that Sang. A bags are known for (in this case, smooth eelskin), which is hand-painted in a modern-impressionist style. Inside the bag, the luxe factor increases with blue Italian silk satin lining, along with a zipper pocket and two interior pockets. So you not only have one luxe statement bag, but also a walking work of art!
Measures 11″ x 12″ x 3″.

Halston Heritage Sequin Folded Clutch
February 25, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Is this an SJP creation? Much as we love her style, we were highly skeptical about her being named Creative Director of Halston Heritage. And if this bag is a shining example of her work with the brand, then we’re sorry to say that we were right. The Halston Heritage Sequin Folded Clutch ($195) is pretty hideous. We have mixed feelings about sequinned anything, and the small gold sequins covering this clutch looks pretty gaudy. Read more
Haute or not: Foley + Corinna’s Cargo bag
February 24, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment
As much as we love clutch bags, chic as they are, sometimes they can be a bit impractical. But we expect it – clutches are small and cute and only meant to hold the basics for going out (keys, money, credit cards, lip gloss, and cell phone). But when we buy a hobo, our expectations are that it go beyond a clutch - and hold a lot. That said, we think the Foley + Corinna Cargo Bag ($495) is one of the poorest excuses for a hobo, or a handbag for that matter. This has to be one of the most ridiculous bags we’ve ever seen. Macabre or must-have? The Alexander McQueen Thriller Faithful Glove Clutch
February 16, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 9 Comments
Is the Alexander McQueen Thriller Faithful Glove Clutch a must-have or just too macabre for words?
Because the bag was designed by McQueen, and inspired by Michael Jackson makes it both an amazing pick, yet, on the heels of both of their deaths, also a bit creepy. We’ve reviewed the Faithful Glove Clutch before and immediately saw the Michael Jackson connection. Now, the new Thriller Faithful Glove Clutch offers an updated version to the original, and features a detachable Swarovski-embellished white leather glove, similar to MJ’s signature glove Read more
Haute bag of the week: Be & D Woodstock Distressed Calfskin Leather Hobo
February 16, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
When shopping for a must-have bag of the moment, I look for a bag that has a distinct blend of classic design mixed with a bit of current trends. The key is to find a true modern classic piece. The Be & D Woodstock Distressed Calfskin Leather Hobo (in Rush Sand) is one bag that definitely makes the cut. Read more
Haute bag of the week: L.A.M.B. Worthington in African argyle

If you love Gwen Stefani’s personal style, you’re sure to be a fan of her L.A.M.B. collection of handbags. The bags are infused with her style and influences and the latest standout in her collection is the Lamb Worthington Handbag in African Argyle. Haute or Not: J.J. Winters Chain Fringe Bag
February 5, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
We know J.J. Winters is the go-to brand for boho bags. We’ve seen their fringe hobos on the arms of Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Haylie Duff. And now the brand created a new take on the fringe bag – chain fringe. The J.J. Winters Chain Fringe Bag in Black is made of black suede, in its signature large hobo silhouette, but with gold chain ‘fringe’ accents. Read more
Kooba Jagger Expandable Leather Shoulder Tote
February 4, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 1 Comment

When I think ‘rockstar bags’, I think Kooba. And the appropriately named Kooba Jagger Expandable Leather Shoulder Tote is exactly the bag that comes to mind. Made of Kooba’s luscious glazed and distressed leather, the tote is unique in that it zips down the front, as well as on each side to expand the bag. Read more
Bag Lady: Chloé Baggage Claim
February 1, 2010 by Sally Awosika · 1 Comment
Last night I went on my second date with Michael. We went to the movies and saw one of those cliché romantic comedies, followed by drinks at the Gansevoort. Things were going smoothly. Despite the fact, we had a slight communication problem. He didn’t understand why I refused to let him hold my bag while I went to the ladies room (it almost got ugly). It was a nice gesture but, I couldn’t leave my Chloé Paraty bag with someone who apparently doesn’t know me. Read more
Juicy Couture Larchmont Hobo
February 1, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Juicy bag (or Juicy anything, for that matter) that didn’t scream ‘teenage girl’. But the Juicy Couture Larchmont Hobo is one Juicy bag we wouldn’t be too embarassed to carry.
Made of a sueded, slightly distressed leather, this teal shoulder bag features a double buckled strap detail down the front and along the sides, with a fold over flap pocket. The flap has a leather tab covered in antiqued brass studs and a logo padlock. The color, material and hobo silhouette are all perfect for spring.

First look: Alexander Wang’s spring bags on shopbop
January 27, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Alexander Wang’s spring bags have just debuted on shopbop.com and we can’t wait to get our hands on the entire collection. But the true standout is the Alexander Wang Darla Pyramid Clutch. If you loved the Alexander Wang Coco Duffel
and adore clutches, this bag is the best of both worlds. Made of the same black pebbled leather found on most of Wang’s bags, this clutch is pyramid shaped with a vertical zip closure and seam on the front and oversized black bullet head studs on the back. $495 may be a lot to shell out for a clutch but with Wang’s sturdy leather and stud detail, and timeless design, this bag will be one you’ll want to clutch forever. (Measures 9.5″ x 10.5″).
Now if the clutch isn’t for you, for just 200 more you can snag the Rocco Baby Duffel Bag. Like the Coco, the Rocco is duffel-shaped and also features black pebbled leather, double rolled handles and black oversized studs at the bottom. It’s obviously larger than the Pyramid Clutch, but slightly smaller than the Coco (at 11″ x 12″ x 9″ with a 3″ strap drop), which is perfect since the Coco is a pretty heavy bag. There’s also an additional version for $875 – the Rocco Mini Duffel – measuring 12″ x 13″ x 10″ with a 3″ strap drop, and features two zip pockets on the sides.
Which is your favorite Alexander Wang bag?

Haute Bag of the Week: Danielle Nicole Sarah Clutch
January 25, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 7 Comments

At Handbag du Jour, we love a good clutch. While clutches may not be the most practical of bags, they’re super cute, and on a night out, they make the best bag companion. No one wants to tote along a bulky shoulder bag or satchel to a club or bar! We stumbled upon the Danielle Nicole Sarah Clutch and it was instant bag love. Read more
Hermes-style bags (without the hefty Hermes price)
January 25, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
My colleague, Melissa, recently mentioned that she discovered her dream bag. Unfortunately, it was the Hermès Birkin Bag, and the price and waiting list was less of a dream; more of a nightmare. So she asked Handbag du Jour to find some Hermes-style handbags for her, in a more affordable price range. Now we’re not proponents of ‘look-alike’ knockoffs but we found several well-styled designer bags that could give both the Hermes Birkin and the Hermes Kelly a run for their money. Read more
Shopper’s delight - Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Studded Grocery Bag
January 21, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Every where you shop, everyone seems to be going ‘green’. So that means less plastic bags, and more reusable ones. Most of the ‘green’ shopping bags are pretty hideous. They consist of colorful fabric ‘totes’ made of materials that aren’t sturdy enough to carry all of your things in. We wish more of them looked like the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Studded Grocery Bag. Read more
Herve Leger Crystal Clutch
January 19, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 4 Comments

When we first discovered Herve Leger was making handbags, we shuddered. Due to our huge love of Balmain clothes and shoes and our subsequent huge disappointment with Balmain’s handbags, we didn’t even want to see what Herve Leger had in store. But then we took a peek at this Herve Leger Crystal Clutch and were pleasantly surprised. Herve Leger’s bandage dresses have become the gold standard for unstuffy evening wear, and it’s evening bags just may be the handbag equivalent. Read more

Lindsay Lohan in St. Barts with her Hermès Blue Jean Clemence Leather 30cm Birkin Bag
January 6, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
Only Lindsay Lohan can make a Hermès Birkin look slightly trashy. She was spotted on the beach in St. Barts celebrating her New Years vacation with her sister Ali and a few friends. LiLo strolled along the beach with a friend in tow and her Hermès Blue Jean Clemence Leather 30cm Birkin Bag on her arm. It’s too bad people like Lindsay can purchase Birkins. It’s a brand we’ve always associated with class and she has none. Maybe it can give her a dose.
If you have class (and Lohan-like cash), get your own Hermès Blue Denim Clemence Leather 30cm Birkin Bag at Portero.com. The bag is in pristine condition and is finished with white stitching with palladium hardware. The interior is lined in Blue Jean Chevre leather and has one slide pocket and one zipper pocket. Comes with a Hermès large dust bag, lock and key set with clochette and small dust bag, protective felt, protective rain coat and Hermès box. Buy it at Portero.com. for $8,795.

Jimmy Choo provides just the jolt you need in a handbag. The Jimmy Choo Conti snakeskin shoulder bag features luxurious black elaphe snakeskin and leather with a lightning-shaped fold-over flap made of cheetah and zebra-print ponyskin panels. A detachable gold-tone metal shoulder chain lets you swing it over your shoulder but it doubles as a fierce clutch too. Read more
Giuseppe Zanotti EB0011 clutch
December 19, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment
When Rihanna carried around town her “Such a f*cking lady” clutch, most people gasped. We wanted to know where to buy it. We assumed it was a Giuseppe Zanotti, since she first carried while hanging out with the designer at Intermix on Fashion’s Night Out, but it was probably a one-off, made just for Rihanna. Especially since she originally wanted to name her album Such a f*cking lady instead of Rated R. But we digress. While the bag in question is not available, you can snag a close look alike with the Giuseppe Zanotti EB0011 Clutch Read more
Now on sale – bags by Monserat de Lucca and Shih

There are so many handbag sales that we just can’t help ourselves to two, or three (or more for that matter) new bags this holiday season. And on sale right now are two handbag brands that you will definitely want to help yourself to. Monserat de Lucca and Shih offer an assortment of perfectly created totes in all shapes and sizes. Monserat de Lucca offers simple and refined yet stylish bags – like pouchy crossbody bags and structured totes. Shih’s bags are playful, ultra-feminine and utterly adorable. Our favorite piece among them all is the Shih Orinne Tote Large sized tote bag in emerald glazed leather with gold hardware throughout. It features a hidden magnetic button closure, double chain link top handles with leather shoulder straps a single pocket at the front with a flap cover opening and key lock closure. Love it – it’s a must-have. And a must-buy. Like, now.
