Jada Pinkett Smith carries Judith Leiber to 3rd Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon

March 5, 2010 by Ehmonie Hainey · 5 Comments

Jada Pinkett Smith carries Judith Leiber to 3rd Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood LuncheonJada Pinkett-Smith is usually a glam goddess at awards shows but this look left us scratching our heads. She attended the 3rd Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon at Beverly Hills Hotel wearing a beaded, metallic caftan-style dress, gold-studded tan sandals, hoop earrings, several rows of gold and silver bracelets on each arm, and a gold Judith Leiber clutch. She wore her hair in a high ponytail with a draped braid down the front. Though her makeup was gorgeous, her outfit made her look less glam goddess; more Greek god. While we love Jada, we hate to say this look wasn’t her best one. But we still heart her overall style and acting chops.

Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi flaunts her ‘celebrity’ and her Coach bag

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi flaunts her 'celebrity' and her Coach bagWho qualifies as a celebrity these days? With reality shows invading our television sets, it’s hard to tell. But being on a show as successful (and equally as sleazy) as Jersey Shore sorta makes you a celeb. Sorta. Nicole ‘Snooki’ “I invented the pouf” Polizzi is embracing her newfound fame. With a Coach bag and Jersey Shore-worthy outfit of an animal print top underneath a sheer one and a fur hoodie, she graced the red carpet to host Opium at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel on January 9, 2010 in Hollywood, Florida. Think these Jersey Shore kids are going away after their summer at the beach ends? Forget about it.

Lourdes Leon and her Marc By Marc Jacobs black Shiny Studs Wristlet Clutch

Madonna and Lourdes Leon and her Marc By Marc Jacobs black Shiny Studs Wristlet Clutch at the New York premiere of NINE at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York CityLook at little Lourdes Leon! The ’second coming’ of Madonna is all grown up, and looks like a little lady. The always stylish girl and her iconic mom made a surprise appearance at the premiere of “NINE” at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. The event was sponsored by Chopard. We’ve always looked forward to seeing what Madonna would be wearing and now we’ve got little Lourdes on our style watch too. We’re loving her Madonna-circa-late-80’s style: frilly dress, black motorcycle jacket, sheer glove, funky green nail polish and an edgy bag. Looks like she’s toting the Marc By Marc Jacobs Black Shiny Studs Wristlet Clutch - which completes the look perfectly. This little stylista is one to watch. Move over Madge!

New Moon's Nikki Reed dazzles in diamonds and Jimmy Choo at the Hamilton Behind The Camera AwardsWe haven’t read Twilight or New Moon or any of those other vampire/werewolf teen dramas but apparently they’re all the rage. Nikki Reed, star of the upcoming movie, New Moon, was spotted on the red carpet at the Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards. (If you’re unfamiliar with the books/movies, Nikki plays the character of Rosalie Hale, allegedly “the most beautiful person/vampire in the world”.) She wore a vintage tuxedo jacket over a Nanette Lepore dress, and accessorized with diamond bracelets from Dana Rebecca Designs and the Jimmy Chooicon Martina clutch bag and Jimmy Choo shoes. Who knew vampires could look so stylish?

Jessica Stroup: Guess her bag!

Jessica Stroup Guess her bag

Puma presented ‘The African Bazaar’, a celebration of their commitment to African athletes and charities. Actress Jessica Stroup (90210) was one of the celebs in attendance, alongside Ed Norton, Chris Kattan and Joel McHale enjoying the night alongside African drummers, stilt walkers, and soccer players. Stroup was a bit dressed down for a red carpet event but her bag added some spice to her look. She carried a snakeskin flap clutch covered with rows of bronze pyramid studs. We have some ideas who the designer might be but can’t put our finger on it. Help us guess her bag!

Christian Siriano and his Givenchy Large Stamped Croc Nightingale hit the red carpet

November 5, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Christian Siriano - Givenchy Large Stamped Croc NightingaleThe new trend on the street? Men with bags. And not necessarily ‘manbags’ either, but ladies designer handbags - oversized, of course. We’re not sure how we feel about this new trend but how can you not love designer Christian Siriano (Project Runway) and his unique fashion sense? He was spotted on the red carpet at the 13th Annual 2009 ACE Awards presented by the Accessories Council held at Cipriani, dressed in his version of “black tie” - a jacket, skinny pants and sneakers, accessorized with a large Givenchy Large Stamped Croc Nightingale. Hmm…not so sure about the large bag on the red carpet - it’s a fashion don’t. But we heart Christian anyway.

Paris Hilton Hello Kitty 35th anniversary celebration held at Royal/T SANRIO
Who else but Paris Hilton could rock a large, crystal-studded Hello Kitty handbag on the red carpet? Actually, Kimora Lee Simmons could. Both ladies walked the red carpet at the Hello Kitty 35th anniversary celebration held at Royal/T in Culver City, California. SANRIO celebrated by collaborating with 80 popular artists, launching a variety of special, limited edition products, and introducing “Three Apples” (Hello Kitty’s weight as listed in her official bio), a multi-dimensional exhibition and celebration of all things Hello Kitty running from October 23 to November 15 at Royal/T. Paris wore her usual pink and posed with the large handbag. Kimora brought daughters Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons, who all donned red hair bows a la Hello Kitty. The event brought out the most random group of people, including the artists and celebrites like designer Tarina Tarantino, actress Markie Post, singer Pete Wentz, and Dave Navarro.Kimora Lee Simmons Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons Hello Kitty 35th anniversary celebration held at Royal/T SANRIO

She carried the Red Perspex version which is a thermoplastic and transparent plastic that looks like patent leather. Read more

Spotted: Estelle with the Juliette Jake Crocodile Wrap and Wrap Clutch

Estelle looked hot at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Style party wearing a gray printed strapless maxi dress accessorized with a crocodile clutch - the Juliette Jake Crocodile Wrap and Wrap Clutch in sand ($495). Not sure we would have paired the grey dress with the sand colored clutch but this crocodile wrap clutch is so stunning we’d want to take it everywhere!

Also comes in black, grey, taupe and beige.

Oscar Nominee Taraji Henson Loves Lambertson Truex!

February 10, 2009 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Taraji-P-Henson-loves-her-Lambertson-Truex-Signature-Framed-Clutch-in-Ring-Lizard-and-Paxton-Clutch-in-metallic-silver

I first remember Taraji Henson from her role in Baby Boy where she played Tyrese’s crazy on-again off-again girlfriend. Overall it was a pretty bad movie and I have to admit I didn’t think her career would go very far after that. Her next memorable role for me was Hustle & Flow where she played one of Terrence Howard’s ‘girls’. I thought her role was a weird one – her character was nervous (and nerve-wracking) throughout most of the film, but it at least it showed her acting chops more than Baby Boy. But over the past year, Taraji has transformed her career and style and this Oscar nominee is becoming one to watch - in both areas. Last year she had a supporting role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which was a huge step up from her past films. Kudos to her! But I specifically love her style evolution which is perhaps due to the rise of her star (now that she’s been nominated, more designers are probably clamoring to dress her and she also probably has a better glam squad now). Whatever the reason, I’m loving her style as of late and of course that includes her bags. Last week at the Oscar Nominee Luncheon she wore a chic pink dress suit with hot dusty rose Christian Louboutin Patent Platform Pumps (that I want so badly) and the Lambertson Truex Paxton Clutch in silver metallic. Then at the Director’s Guild Awards, she wore a black fitted Kaufman Franco dress and Lambertson Truex’s Signature Framed Clutch in Ring Lizard. Both clutches come from Lambertson Truex’s Spring ‘09 bag collection and are hot, hot, hot! Much like Taraji is now.

Bags available at Lambertson Truex boutiques (888.800.0970), New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, or shop Lambertson Truex online.

Celebrity Handbag Spotting: Oprah Winfrey with the Fendi Doctor Style Tote

December 9, 2008 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

Oprah Winfrey with the Fendi Doctor Style Tote
Once again, I am a bit annoyed with celebrities carrying extra large bags on the red carpet. Red carpet looks should be reserved for petite clutches and minaudieres. But in my eyes, Lady O can really do whatever she wants, and whatever bag she’s carrying, on or off the red carpet is sure to redefine red carpet style. Oprah’s Fendi Doctor style tote looks extra chic alongside her buckled grey dress, gunmetal cuff and peep-toe Christian Louboutins. The structured bag has two unstructured wing-like flaps on either end, with two short handles and hidden pockets at each end with press stud fastenings at the top. The bag is simple but has that special touch that you either love or hate about Fendi. I’m just happy I can afford Oprah’s style. Well, her bag at least.

Celebrity Handbag Spotting: Katy Perry with the Limited-Edition Strawberry Cupcake Clutch

I Kissed a Girl‘ singer and host of the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, Katy Perry, was spotted on the red carpet with the Judith Leiber Limited-Edition Strawberry Cupcake Clutch. This cutesy clutch was spotted earlier this year in the Sex and the City movie as Charlotte’s daughter’s purse of choice, and continues to make its round despite it’s limited-edition status and expensive price of $4295! This handcrafted cupcake shaped clutch is completely beaded with rose and light pink-colored Austrian crystals and gold hardware. It looks yummy!

Celebrity bag spotting: Vanessa Simmons with a Fendi Large Patent Baguette

Angela and Vanessa Simmons at Giant Magazine party - Fendi Large Patent Baguette

I guess if you’re related to Kimora Lee Simmons (even by marriage), you can’t help but dress stylishly. Angela and Vanessa Simmons were recently on the red carpet at a Giant Magazine party dressed to the nines. Vanessa’s accessories in particular caught my eye. I first noticed her Gucci Babouska Booties which every celebrity seems to be rocking these days. And I also spotted her black Fendi Baguette.

The Fendi Baguette was first launched 10 years ago and remains a highly coveted luxury bag. Fendi celebrated its anniversary by creating new limited edition Baguettes, both shrunken and enlarged versions, convertible into both clutches and messenger bags. Vanessa is carrying the Large Patent Baguette. The bag is made of smooth, black patent leather with a gold Fendi logo closure. Two interchangeable, adjustable straps let you go from long to short, a la Vanessa. The bag is gorgeous, versatile, and most of all iconic!

All Black & Blue on the Grammy Red Capet

February 11, 2008 by Ehmonie Hainey · Leave a Comment

After fashion week and sorting through colors, fabrics and trends from all the shows, I guess I’m still in trend mode since I noticed the Grammy red carpet was all black and blue. Most of the major stars must have gotten the notice to rock blue or black dresses.

Beyonce wore here usual flapper/mermaid/Cinderella look. The pale blue tulle and silver beaded gown in blue with silver trim was designed by Elie Saab haute couture.

Pop/rock star Rihanna wore a frilly, flirty and feathered Zac Posen dress.

Singer Natasha Bedingfield wore a simple yet flowy strapless bluish-purple Reem Acra floor length gown.

Actress and singer (who knew?) Tia Carrere wore a casual blue empire dress.

Country singer Taylor Swift wore a sweet, strapless custom made blue/lavender Sally Spikka gown.

Alicia Keys looked gorgeous in a custom designed Giorgio Armani Privé sapphire duchess satin gown with a hot pink crocodile clutch.

Love that clutch!

British pop star and nominee Corinne Bailey Rae wore a youthful blue Luella Bartley minidress covered in large pailettes.

Nelly Furtado looked amazing in an eye-popping blue Arthur Mendoza goddess gown.

And these ladies showed that black is anything but basic:

Singer and actress Solange rocked a cute black babydoll dress with layers of ruffles.

Country singer Faith Hill wore a beautiful black Valentino one-shoulder gown.

Singer Fantasia glammed up her new black and blonde mohawk with a sleek, strapless black gown.

Singer Keyshia Cole wore a classy black cocktail dress.

Singer Cyndi Lauper stayed true to her style with a black gown with lace around the bust and accessorized with long black leather gloves.

And 5-time Grammy winner and ‘Record of the Year’ winner Amy Winehouse was ‘Back to Black‘ in her characteristic black dress and beehive ‘do.

Haute Off the Red Carpet: 79th Annual Academy Awards

February 26, 2007 by Ehmonie Hainey · 2 Comments

It’s called the ‘Superbowl’ for women - the Academy Awards, or Oscars. I usually watch the show in bits and pieces. I really just like to see who wins Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Picture. But my favorite part is the red carpet - getting to see who’s wearing who, and what. Here’s my Oscar hits and misses:

Let’s start with everyone’s favorite new ‘It’ girl, and now Academy Award winner (!) Jennifer Hudson. She looked fabulous in a chocolate Oscar de la Renta gown created exclusively for her. I love the metallic python/leather shrug - everyone’s going to want one of those…

I certainly do… And I want her makeup artist too.
Dreamgirls co-star, Anika Noni Rose, took a page from Beyonce’s standard red carpet book, with a shiny silver dress, complete with a plunging neckline:
And plunging backline:

Eddie Murphy’s date, Tracey Edmonds, wore a dazzling grey gown.

Jodie Foster looked great in a draped blue chiffon dress:

Queen Latifah looked haute in basic black:

Jenny from the block (Jennifer Lopez) looked fabulous in this Grecian goddess gown. I love dresses with ‘built in’ jewelry. Gorgeous.

Academy Award winner Rachel Wesiz looked incredible in this subtle strapless gold dress. The diamond accents were beautiful.

Even Joan and Melissa Rivers looked nice. Well, their dresses did anyway…
Jessica Biel looked chic in a hot pink, back baring gown.
Jada Pinkett-Smith chose a great mustard-gold gown that flattered her bronze skin.

And she rocked a haute VBH Envelope Clutch:
Cate Blanchett could have used a bit of bronzer or self-tanner but looked gorgeous in her understated grey gown, nevertheless.
Maggie Gyllenhaal could have taken a trip to Sephora along with Cate, but her navy and black gown was also gorgeous.
‘Little Miss Sunshine’ star Abigail Breslin looked absolutely adorable in this dress that resembled a basket of flowers.Cute!

Penelope Cruz rocked a haute ruched and ruffled pink gown with a train.
Her clutch was haute too:
Beyonce strayed away from her usual ‘look at me!’ dresses and opted for a softer, less alluring gown.

Gwyneth looked great as usual…Haute.

Celine Dion also looked haute in an emerald green gown:
John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, was almsot unrecognizable in this skintight leopard-print dress.

Skinny was definitely in this year. Portia de Rossi looked like she could use a Big Mac:

But I liked the back of the dress…And is it just me, or does Reese seem to be getting thinner and thinner? Great gown though.
BFF’s Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts looked great in bright summer colors.
Miranda Priestly Meryl Streep could have borrowed a better outfit from ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ closet.
So could have Anne Hathaway:
Cameron could have done better. Her dress was pretty hideous:

Ditto for the bag… And Best actor nominee Forest Whittaker’s wife Keisha looked great….until she turned around.
I don’t know happened here…

Faye Dunaway looked like a birthday cake gone bad:
Oh Kirsten….I have no words.

And I guess having a rich father doesn’t ensure a great red carpet gown…
Like father, like daughter.(Quincy and Rashida Jones)

Who were your Oscar faves?
