Just when we thought we’ve seen every iteration of the logoed Louis Vuitton bag, they go and make a brand new one. And another one. Marc Jacobs channeled the fifties era in his Fall 2010 Louis Vuitton show and the models wore corseted full skirted dresses accessorized with high ponytails, chunky heeled pumps adorned with flat bows and a slew of structured handbags. The Speedy silhouette gets a makeover in various materials, ranging from smooth and simple calf leather with a single raised LV logo, an ostrich and canvas pairing, laser-cut and burnout LV monogram canvas, crocodile and patent vernis, embellished in sequins, and woven. Despite the use of a single silhouette, the variety of bags will appeal to all bag lovers – from die-hard Louis Vuitton fans to ladies who lunch and all gals in between.

Jada Pinkett Smith carries Judith Leiber to 3rd Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon

Jada Pinkett-Smith is usually a glam goddess at awards shows but this look left us scratching our heads. She attended the 3rd Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon at Beverly Hills Hotel wearing a beaded, metallic caftan-style dress, gold-studded tan sandals, hoop earrings, several rows of gold and silver bracelets on each arm, and a gold Judith Leiber clutch. She wore her hair in a high ponytail with a draped braid down the front. Though her makeup was gorgeous, her outfit made her look less glam goddess; more Greek god. While we love Jada, we hate to say this look wasn’t her best one. But we still heart her overall style and acting chops.

Project Runway star Korto Momolu set to launch signature handbag line at Dillard’s

We heart Project Runway - even though they keep knocking off our favorite designers season after season. One of which was Korto Momolu. Though we seriously loved Leanne Marshall’s final collection, Korto really stole the season - she rocked every challenge and should have won. Same for the designer all-star challenge. But Korto’s doing just fine, as she’s set to launch her a signtaure line of handbags on February 15, 2010 in all Dillard’s stores and online at www.dillards.com. The launch will include a nationwide tour from February to March 2010, kicking-off in her home state of Arkansas. She will also visit major cities including Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Charlotte, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Her signature handbags (one of which we’ve featured before) have the same styling that she puts into her clothing. Inspired by her native Africa, her bags are made with rich fabrics and vibrant colors, and with details like bullhorn handles, they have tons of personality and are full of Korto’s character. In short, they’re luxurious, exotic and beautiful. We can’t wait to see the Dillard’s collection! In the meantime, you can check out her line of handbags here.

Also on February 15, she’ll be debuting her Fall 2010 collection of handbags and apparel at New York Fashion Week, which we’ll be covering on What’s Haute. Stay tuned to see more of what’s in store from this lady, both on and off the runway!

Beyonce may have said ‘buh-bye’ to her alter ego, Sasha Fierce, but it doesn’t look like she bid adieu to Sasha’s ‘fierce’ fashion sense. Mrs. Carter and her hubby Jay-Z were spotted leaving L’Avenue restaurant in Paris before heading to see some shows at Paris Menswear Fashion Week this week. She rocked quite the edgy look of an acid-washed denim-look boucle cropped jacket, studded black leggings. She accessorized with matching 3.1 Phillip Lim studded black fingerless gloves, black Ray Ban sunglasses, a Balenciaga Arena Classic Day bag in Outremer (bright blue) and Louboutins on her feet, of course. Looks very ‘Sasha Fierce’ to us.

Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi flaunts her ‘celebrity’ and her Coach bag

Who qualifies as a celebrity these days? With reality shows invading our television sets, it’s hard to tell. But being on a show as successful (and equally as sleazy) as Jersey Shore sorta makes you a celeb. Sorta. Nicole ‘Snooki’ “I invented the pouf” Polizzi is embracing her newfound fame. With a Coach bag and Jersey Shore-worthy outfit of an animal print top underneath a sheer one and a fur hoodie, she graced the red carpet to host Opium at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel on January 9, 2010 in Hollywood, Florida. Think these Jersey Shore kids are going away after their summer at the beach ends? Forget about it.

Judith Leiber graces the red carpet at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards

The 2010 People’s Choice Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, CA and the big winner was…drumroll please…Judith Leiber! Her crystal evening bags and minaudieres graced the hands of numerous celebs on the red carpet and throughout the evening. Katie Cassidy (Melrose Place) carried the handpainted, silver and gold crystal covered Judith Leiber Package clutch. Singer Mary J. Blige carried the Judith Leiber Radiant Cut crystal-embellished clutch; a silver clutch with oversized square-cut smoke-colored crystals and a short chain strap. Actress Olivia Wilde chose the black Judith Leiber Streamline frosted Lucite clutch; a box clutch made of frosted Lucite embellished with transparent crystals and a silver chain handle. Kaley Cuoco, Alyson Hannigan and Paula Patton also accessorized their looks with Leiber purses. No bag goes better with the red carpet than a Judith Leiber!

Look at little Lourdes Leon! The ’second coming’ of Madonna is all grown up, and looks like a little lady. The always stylish girl and her iconic mom made a surprise appearance at the premiere of “NINE” at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. The event was sponsored by Chopard. We’ve always looked forward to seeing what Madonna would be wearing and now we’ve got little Lourdes on our style watch too. We’re loving her Madonna-circa-late-80’s style: frilly dress, black motorcycle jacket, sheer glove, funky green nail polish and an edgy bag. Looks like she’s toting the Marc By Marc Jacobs Black Shiny Studs Wristlet Clutch - which completes the look perfectly. This little stylista is one to watch. Move over Madge!

New Moon’s Nikki Reed dazzles in diamonds and Jimmy Choo

We haven’t read Twilight or New Moon or any of those other vampire/werewolf teen dramas but apparently they’re all the rage. Nikki Reed, star of the upcoming movie, New Moon, was spotted on the red carpet at the Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards. (If you’re unfamiliar with the books/movies, Nikki plays the character of Rosalie Hale, allegedly “the most beautiful person/vampire in the world”.) She wore a vintage tuxedo jacket over a Nanette Lepore dress, and accessorized with diamond bracelets from Dana Rebecca Designs and the Jimmy Choo Martina clutch bag and Jimmy Choo shoes. Who knew vampires could look so stylish?

Jessica Stroup: Guess her bag!

Puma presented ‘The African Bazaar’, a celebration of their commitment to African athletes and charities. Actress Jessica Stroup (90210) was one of the celebs in attendance, alongside Ed Norton, Chris Kattan and Joel McHale enjoying the night alongside African drummers, stilt walkers, and soccer players. Stroup was a bit dressed down for a red carpet event but her bag added some spice to her look. She carried a snakeskin flap clutch covered with rows of bronze pyramid studs. We have some ideas who the designer might be but can’t put our finger on it. Help us guess her bag!

Shakira does Letterman with Givenchy Medium Couture Padded Nightingale

We heart Shakira but sometimes we feel she needs a slight makeover. She visited the “Late Show with David Letterman” in New York City last night dressed in items we would wear (minus the hair). She wore a black coat accessorized with a leopard print scarf, those black lace up Miu Miu peep toe boots that EVERYONE is wearing right now (including Rihanna, Ciara and Mariah Carey) and the pièce de résistance – a Givenchy Medium Couture Padded Nightingale in black. This Aztec-style quilted leather satchel is a great new take on the traditional bag, and we didn’t think it could get any better. (Check out the covetable acid yellow Nightingale here.) We love each of the pieces in Shakira’s look. Just not all together.

Christian Siriano and his Givenchy Large Stamped Croc Nightingale hit the red carpet

The new trend on the street? Men with bags. And not necessarily ‘manbags’ either, but ladies designer handbags - oversized, of course. We’re not sure how we feel about this new trend but how can you not love designer Christian Siriano (Project Runway) and his unique fashion sense? He was spotted on the red carpet at the 13th Annual 2009 ACE Awards presented by the Accessories Council held at Cipriani, dressed in his version of “black tie” - a jacket, skinny pants and sneakers, accessorized with a large Givenchy Large Stamped Croc Nightingale. Hmm…not so sure about the large bag on the red carpet - it’s a fashion don’t. But we heart Christian anyway.

Paris Hilton + Kimora and kiddies celebrate Hello Kitty’s 35th anniversary

Who else but Paris Hilton could rock a large, crystal-studded Hello Kitty handbag on the red carpet? Actually, Kimora Lee Simmons could. Both ladies walked the red carpet at the Hello Kitty 35th anniversary celebration held at Royal/T in Culver City, California. SANRIO celebrated by collaborating with 80 popular artists, launching a variety of special, limited edition products, and introducing “Three Apples” (Hello Kitty’s weight as listed in her official bio), a multi-dimensional exhibition and celebration of all things Hello Kitty running from October 23 to November 15 at Royal/T. Paris wore her usual pink and posed with the large handbag. Kimora brought daughters Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons, who all donned red hair bows a la Hello Kitty. The event brought out the most random group of people, including the artists and celebrites like designer Tarina Tarantino, actress Markie Post, singer Pete Wentz, and Dave Navarro.

We’re in love with “Love Moschino”

We’ve adored the Moschino Cheap and Chic line for years, though honestly, it was never really that cheap. But now Moschino accessory lovers can rejoice – the brand just announced the launch of a new line of lower-priced handbags called “Love Moschino” also the name of its jeans line. Priced between $168 and $445, the collection will include shoulder bags, totes, clutches and wallets all made of nappa and patent leather, calfskin and canvas, and suede to come soon. We’ll pass on the Chanel look-alike purse but the purple and red heart covered clutch already holds a special place in our hearts. The line is designed to appeal to younger customers who have less moolah. Finally, Moschino for the masses!

Bags on the runway: Nina Ricci at Paris Fashion Week

Nina Ricci was once a brand I associated with ‘mature’ women’s fragrances (mostly because my grandmom had a bottle on her dresser), but lately the brand has seemed to hit the ‘refresh’ button. With celebrities like Rihanna carrying Nina Ricci bags, the brand is definitely grabbing the attention of a much younger audience. The brand debuted its spring/summer 2010 Pret a Porter collection during Paris Fashion Week and these three bags caught my eye. They’re all different but are identifiably Nina Ricci with its palette of pastel colors and ultrafeminine details like ruffles, florals and bow accents. Are you a fan of these oh-so-pretty bags?

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010

Leighton Meester and Freida Pinto looked lovely entering the Louis Vuitton Pret a Porter runway show during Paris Fashion Week. With the exception of Leighton’s calf-high socks, both looked great from head to toe. They toted new LV bags - Leighton carried a black suede duffel; and we loved Freida’s pink Louis bucket bag in particular. Though as for the show itself, well, we didn’t know quite what to say:


Um, yeah. Well, at least we’re looking forward to seeing the spring bags in stores. As for the rest of the collection, we’ll have to pass for now.

Bags on the runway at Valentino Spring/Summer 2010

New Valentino duo, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, took a different direction for Spring, straying away from the house’s vibrant color palette and replacing it with hues of nude, gray, rose, lavender, and gold. While we weren’t a huge fan of the washed out color palette, the bags were a hit. Brocades, pailettes, antique laces, large petaled florals and feathers came together in Valentino’s usual understated glamourous way. Large structured bags mixed with wrinkled flat clutches and of course a few bags were topped with Valentino’s signature bow for a dramatic flourish.

Rihanna j’adores Chanel

You know it wouldn’t be a normal fashion week without several Rihanna sightings. She hit up the Chanel show draped in Chanel from head to (almost) toe - sunglasses, bustier, blue tweed skirt, multi-chain necklace and a velvet bag with sequins? Can’t say it was our favorite Rihanna look but at least she tried to represent for Chanel. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer also took in the show, as well as Prince! Prince, Rihanna and Karl Lagerfeld all under one roof? Better clutch your Chanel pearls…
