Bags on set: Blake Lively with Kotur filming Gossip Girl season 4

With the Sex and the City 2 hoopla behind us, where does a girl turn for her on-screen fashion fix? Gossip Girl, of course. Shooting has already begun for season 4 and we’re getting sneak peeks of the cast and characters and of course, what they’re wearing. Always stylish ‘Serena’ (Blake Lively) was spotted sharing a moment on set with newcomer Sam Page (Desperate Housewives, Mad Men), her alleged new love interest. What will this mean for Dan and Nate? We’re not sure – you’ll have to tune in like us on September 13. So for now let’s just preview her fashion, shall we? Like her black, cleavage-baring cutout tuxedo jacket and the Kotur ‘Jensen Ayers’ snakeskin semi-precious stone chevron clutch in multi-burgundy. The look is a bit risqué but fitting for Serena’s character, no?

Rihanna goes vintage with Chanel

What we love about Rihanna’s fashion choices is that you never know what to expect. One day she’s sporting a mohawk, the next – a short bob. One day she’s wearing an outfit that would (almost) make Lady Gaga blush; the next – this look. It’s cute but very tame for the rude gal. anyway, it’s a nice toned-down casual look. She was spotted at her favorite New York restaurant, Da Silvano after performing her second concert for her Last Girl On Earth tour at Madison Square Garden. She wore a floral sundress and accessorized with peep-toe heels and a burgundy, quilted Chanel backpack. We’re loving the vintage look of the bag (although secretly we think backpacks should be reserved for school kids. And Kanye West.)

Rihanna’s Guardian Angel bag by Vlieger & Vandam

I went to see Rihanna in concert ths weekend and though I’m still not sold on the red hair, I gotta admit the girl’s got style. She was spotted out in NYC last week when she was scheduled to perform at MSG and she accessorized her bright red crop with a new neck tattoo that read “Rebelle Fleur,” a menswear-inspired pantsuit, Miu Miu studded oxford brogues and the haute Guardian Angel bag by Vlieger & Vandam.

This leather bag was inspired by designers Hein van Dam and Carolien Vlieger and was the first in a series of striking bags. Due to the growing rates of crime and violence and people’s increased perceptions and fears, the designers wanted to give people the impression of feeling secure, arming them with a ‘Guardian Angel’ handbag.

Let’s admit it – Lisa Bonet is not the first person we think of when it comes to being fashionable. Lady Gaga and Rihanna – yes! Lisa Bonet – not so much. So we were surprised to see this beauty of a bag hanging from her arm when she was spotted out grocery shopping. We can relate – who doesn’t carry Alexander Wang to the supermarket? But this is a bag we haven’t seen before. We recognize those signature Wang bullet studs on the bottom but haven’t seen this style before. Is Lisa Bonet on the cutting edge of fashion now? Any guesses on the name of this particular bag?

Spotted: Jessica Szhor in London with Ed Westwick and her Kara Ross Prunella Python Envelope clutch

Great fashion minds think alike! We just featured this Kara Ross Prunella Python Envelope clutch on Handbag du Jour last week and then Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szhor was spotted out in London carrying it! Ok, so maybe we don’t have Jessica’s enviable closet but it is comforting to know we share the same taste - in style, arm candy and eye candy (hello Chuck Bass)! Fellow GG star and cutie, Ed Westwick, Jessica’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, was spotted with her at the SoHo Hotel in London, England. They then took off in the back of a chauffeured SUV to have some good old British fun.

LaLa Vazquez was spotted in L.A. having dinner with her mom at celebrity hotspot Beso restaurant. She reportedly was filming her upcoming VH1 reality show that night. Wearing a pink satin dress with a wide black belt paired with black heels, she accessorized with diamond jewelry, a wrist tattoo and her Rebecca Minkoff Fling Clutch. Pretty from head to toe!

Ahh, Kelis. We gotta love her individuality, even when she takes fashion too far. Lately she’s been rockin a curly hair/braid/mullet combo that is a definite head-scratcher, but we do applaud her fashion risk-taking. Even when it doesn’t quite pay off. She was recently spotted in London sporting that strange hairdo, a bullnose ring, multicolored scarf, a plaid poncho and her denim blue Alexander Wang Suede Brenda Zip Chain Bag. Wonder which item doesn’t belong in this picture?

We heart Halle Berry’s California-girl style. From boho chic sundresses to tees and yoga pants, no matter what she wears, she can do no wrong. She was spotted leaving a friend’s house in Hollywood wearing a casual ‘Liv Grn’ Signorelli T-shirt, Rock Revival denim cutoff shorts and the Gustto Flacha Shoulder Bag. This cute crossbody bag is made of soft, crinkled leather and has an adjustable cross body strap that is 25 1/2″ long. With a front exterior zip pocket, expandable bottom with two-way zip closure and fold over zip top, it’s no wonder Berry chose to carry this bag. It’s fashionable AND truly functional. What more could a cool laid-back girl want?

Rihanna: name that blue leopard clutch

Rihanna was spotted doing was she does best - partying. She hung out at Mahiki Club last night in London after performing in her ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour at O2 Arena. Partying til 4 am? Check. Half-empty bottle of rum. Check. Haute outfit. Check. Rihanna and her best friend Melissa donned similar looks - denim tops and a beige bandage skirt for Rih Rih. We nnever thought a denim shirt would work with a bandage skirt but as always, Rihanna pulled it off nicely. The piece that really made the outfit work though was her blue leopard clutch bag. We think it’s Jimmy Choo but aren’t sure. Any guesses?

Have celebrities made you step up your travel style? No more are the days of wearing comfortable clothes to get through your flight. Now it’s a runway show on the runway – airport runways that is. Sure celebs are being harassed by the paps at the airport but now it’s becoming a trend to look super stylish while you fly. Kim Kardashian is one of those celebs that never gets caught out looking less than her best. She was spotted in the airport in a mix of couture and boho-chic. Ripped jeans, oversized shades, a knit jacket and long scarf were paired with Balmain black lace-up leather ankle boots and a black, quilted Chanel Flap bag. Now that’s one way to go – looking fly while you fly!

Gasp! Lady Gaga defaces the almighty Hermes Birkin

Yes, you read that right. Lady Gaga, who LIVES for shock and awe, took a black Sharpie marker to a white Hermes Birkin, just to give a message to her Japanese fans. We can’t imagine any fans woth defacing a Birkin, but thn again, we’re not Lady Gaga. The multi-thousand dollar bag which has a 5-mile long waiting list was probably easy for Gaga to get (you know, the whole celebrity thing and all). And knowing what it means to all of us fashionistas and handbagistas, she turned the lovely bag into a notepad. And her important message? It read, roughly: “I love you small monsters: Tokyo love.” Yes. And we hate YOU for doing this to this bag.

Katie and Suri: Saturday afternoons with Chloé

There was a lot of celebrity mommy and me time to be had in NYC this weekend. Katie Holmes was spotted shopping in Union Square holding her adorable daughter Suri who rocked a pair of pink bunny ears and bunny slippers for the occasion. We’re not much loving Katie’s outfit of a blue button down shirt, denim A-line skirt and red kitten heels. She’s looking a bit ‘Joey Potter’-ish and just looking at this outfit is making Paula Cole songs play in our heads. And we thought Dawson’s Creek went off the air years ago. Even her little girl is looking more stylish than her! But we do love Katie’s python Chloé Marcie leather hobo bag. It’s a chic bag for girls on the go and it’s just large enough to carry an extra pair of bunny ears, or whatever else mini fashionistas might need.

The bags in the Be&D Woodstock collection are by far some of our faves. Distressed calfskin leather and a sprinkling of pointed studs make it the bag to have for any season. Clearly Whitney Port is a fan too. The star of The City was spotted recently in Sydney, Australia with the Woodstock Shopper. Last week she was seen around town with the Be&D Woodstock hobo. The color of the bags she’s carrying is from Be&D’s Cruise 2010 line, but you can grab the ‘Rush Sand’ color for $995 at Saks.

But even in the midst of a bad situation, Janet looked her usual fab - even going to court. Every day is a fashion show when you’re a celeb. She wore a chic grey fringed jacket and black slacks, accessorized with grey suede pumps, Tom Ford ‘Whitney’ sunglasses and her black Alexander McQueen Faithful Large Tote. That’s Miss Jackson for you - super stylish in any situation.

Celebrity Handbag Spottings: Rachel Bilson totes a straw Chanel

For such a young woman, Rachel Bilson sure does love to carry old lady bags. She was spotted strolling through Los Feliz in Los Angeles with her puppy and a Starbucks, toting a straw Chanel bag with black raffia floral detail. Our question is, “If you’re going to shell out the cash for a Chanel bag, why not get one worth all that money?” Personally, my first choice would have been the Chanel Classic Flap Bag, but we’re guessing that Rachel is trying to look anti-Hollywood, as every other actress and her mother seems to carry one. This straw Chanel tote will definitely set you apart from the others Rachel. That’s because we’re willing to bet not too many starlets would be caught carrying it.

Sister, sister! We heart twin actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry and love their hot style too! They went to see Jay-Z, Young Jeezy and Trey Songz perform at the Blueprint 3 concert in Los Angeles dressed in their usual California casual style. Both wore chic dresses and Tia accessorized with a Damier Ebene Canvas Louis Vuitton handbag. Both sisters looked great! Now we’re just looking forward to seeing them on the small screen again soon.

Kim wore – well, what she always wears. A minidress and a cropped leather jacket. Some things change, some things always stay the same.

That’s the question we asked when we saw Gossip Girl couple Kelly Rutherford (Lily Bass) and Matthew Settle (Rufus Humphrey) not once, but twice, out together looking like quite the cozy pair. They were first spotted at the Pampers Dry Max launch party at Helen Mills Theater in New York City. Then they were seen hugged up at the alice + olivia launch party at Saks Fifth Avenue. Both times Kelly carried her BBF^TM (bag best friend), the Hermès Kelly Bag on one arm, while keeping the other firmly planted on Matthew. New couple alert? It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen it from the Gossip Girl cast…

While Jessica Simpson is traveling the world filming her The Price of Beauty shows, lil sis Ashlee’s beauty treatments are making her virtually unrecognizable. She was spotted looking like the lost twin of Dita von Teese with a new black hairdo and red lipstick. Not sure if she changed the hair color for a new character (since she got booted from Melrose Place – no more need for the red hair). It’s different – slightly punk and rockerish – but we kinda like it. That and those black skinny jeans, white handkerchief tee and her black Balenciaga Arena Classic Pompon bag.

Are we still carrying Louis Vuitton Multicolore bags in 2010? Ice T’s wife Coco isn’t really the fashion icon we look to for style inspiration but being married to a celebrity, you’d think her bag game would be just a bit more current. She was spotted hugged up with Quentin Aaron (The Blindside) on the red carpet for Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? with her Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolore purse in hand. We love our Louis Vuitton bags but since their collections consist mainly of different versions of the logo splattered on canvas or fabric, it’s very easy to spot last year’s bag. Or in this case, several years ago. It’s time to let it go Coco.

Mel B loves a good Fling (Rebecca Minkoff’s, that is)

Mel B. is the latest victim of the half-shaved head syndrome. Why celebrities are adopting this new hairdo is beyond us, but at least the rest of her style remains intact. The Spice Girl singer and her hubby Stephen Belafonte hit the red carpet for the Sony Ericsson Open Kickoff party in Miami and she donned her crazy new hair, a white belted dress, tan suede heels and her tan snake-leather Fling Clutch. Cici was spotted leaving Los Angeles hotspot Katsu-Ya Restaurant last night with her BFF LaLa Vazquez. Singer Drake was also spotted leaving with them. While I blame Drake and LaLa for letting Cici leave the house with this weave that could stand to be quickly replaced, the rest of her look gets a thumbs up. Including her black Givenchy Medium Studded Nightingale bag. That, unlike the weave, can stay. Indefinitely.

Watch out world! The Kardashian sisters are back in Miami, likely to shoot their show. Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian were spotted arriving in Miami Beach, Florida, and heading to their ride dressed in chic, jetsetting looks of boyfriend jeans and big bags. Kourtney, who is in fab shape post-baby, toted a black Balenciaga Arena Classic Pompon while Khloe carried a brown Givenchy Wrinkled Nightingale. These could easily make some of the best travel bags for a girl to have.
