Bag review: Lipault of Paris 18″ Weekend Satchel

Bag review: Lipault of Paris 18There’s no shortage of handbags in my closet, but when it comes to travel bags, I’m at a loss. A few years ago I invested in some designer luggage that was more stylish than sturdy and it spontaneously collapsed after only a few trips! When I travel now, I usually carry a ton of bags: my handbag, my laptop bag, a beauty bag, a bag for miscellaneous stuff and sometimes a few others handbags packed away in my brown, wheeled carry-on. It’s not a pretty piece of luggage but it does the job. But of course I want something that’s just as stylish as it is reliable.

Recently, the folks at Lipault of Paris reached out and asked if I’d like to road-test one of their bags. They just introduced a brand new tangerine color for spring, and the bright and citrusy hue alone piqued my interest. But the bags also looked solid – soft but sturdy. I chose the 18″ Weekend Satchel ($99) and took it with me on a road trip that weekend. (See more of my personal pics, here).

The bag is made of a light yet durable 210-denier nylon twill fabric. It has a light sheen so it looks sleek and stylish, but don’t let the looks fool you! The fabric is incredibly strong. I packed the roomy bag to the brim with clothes, shoes, beauty products AND my laptop and it didn’t budge! Also, it features aircraft-grade aluminum retractable handles and self-healing zippers. It zipped up easily, even with all of my stuff inside, and the handles were comfortable for carrying even though my packed bag weighed more than a few pounds. Additionally, there’s a strap on the back of the bag that you can slip over the handle of your luggage to make travel easier.

Inside the bag there’s plenty of space, as I mentioned. There’s a pretty deep internal zipped pocket plus several smaller organization pockets including a velcro close pocket, a cell phone pocket, pen pockets, and a keychain clip. And it’s lined in a brown nylon monogram.

Lipault’s Weekend Satchel is the perfect mix of light, sturdy and chic, and that’s just what I’ve been looking for in a travel tote. Between their Soft-Side Luggage and their 0% Foldable Luggage, you can mix and match colors and styles to design your own perfect travel bag combo! 1. […] Over the years I have learned to pack a little lighter. It’s always been my first instinct to pack everything in my closet because you never know what you’re going to need, right? But I’ve learned that a few key pieces can really go a long way, especially for a quick weekend trip. For a recent weekend getaway, I packed a pair of my favorite jeans, these Hudson Collin Skinny jeans, some camo heels, boots, a few cozy sweaters and a few beauty essentials in my new Weekend Satchel (courtesy of Lipault of Paris – see my bag review here). Looks like a great option, they are also not so fussy, so I doubt one gets tired of them very easily…
