I’ve got a new bag obsession and I blame ‘Olivia Pope‘. Actually, I blame Lyn Paolo – costume designer for the cast of Scandal. As addictive as the story lines are, so much so is what Kerry Washington is wearing on the show. She has a love of white suits, Burberry trench coats and Prada bags, and the latest (which grabbed my attention) is the Prada Twin Pocket Tote Bag. Ever since Céline debuted its Leather Luggage Tote a few years ago, designers have been creating their own versions of structured, boxy totes. Most get it wrong. But Prada gets it right.
To be fair, Prada has always created boxy, structured tote bags, so they’re by no means Céline imitators. But the Twin Pocket Tote Bag is different than the typical Prada tote in that the double top handles fall lower than usual, and it features ‘winged’ side gussets. It looks like it’s designed more for the younger bag lover, rather than the older set which I always identify as the Prada ‘woman’. Other features of the bag include three compartments, one open and two zip closures, an inside zip pocket, leather lining and a detachable adjustable shoulder strap.
The Prada Glacé Calf Small Twin Pocket Tote in Grey (from the Marmo capsule collection) retails for $1,995. The bag measures 9¾”W X 9″H X 7″D with a 5¼” drop on the handles.
The Prada Glace Calf Twin Pocket Tote comes in Baltico (Navy), Fuoco (Red), Nero (Black), Moro (Brown) and Naturale (Natural) and retails for $2,200.
The Prada Cavallino Large Twin Pocket Zip Tote features a full top zip and comes in leopard-print calf hair with rich trim, retailing at $3,500.
