The price of the Olsen twins‘ new handbag may be a ‘tough pill to swallow’. Their new bags, designed in collaboration with artist Damien Hirst, are made of black patent leather Nile crocodile skin and, get this – they’re covered in ‘prescription pills’. Not the real thing, of course, but still – it’s pretty crazy and controversial given Mary Kate Olsen‘s ex-boyfriend, actor Heath Ledger, died from an accidental overdose of prescription meds.
The Olsens will make only 12 of each of these prescription pill bags (they come in black and multicolored pills) to be sold on the Just One Eye website on 12/12/12. And reportedly a portion of the proceeds will be donated to UNICEF. The price is a cool $55,000, which tops their own record for pricey bags since they previously sold the same The Row backpacks (sans the pills) for $39,000. Other bags in the collaborative collection include croc backpacks covered in multicolored and gold spots/polka dots.
If you had a spare $55K, would you buy one of the prescription pill bags?
