This isn’t the first time a bag has been named after a celebrity, and it certainly isn’t the first for Mulberry. The ever popular Alexa bag was named after It girl Alexa Chung; the latest is their Del Rey bag named for singer Lana Del Rey. To be honest, I have no clue what she sings but she’s been popping up on red carpets here and there and now has the major honor of having a Mulberry bag in her name! The Del Rey is in Mulberry’s usual style of a rectangular structured satchel silhouette, with a zip top, front flap and signature postman’s turnlock closure. Del Rey (the singer) sat front row at Mulberry’s F/W 2012 show, carrying her own Del Rey (handbag) in white ostrich. Mulberry creative director Emma Hill met Del Rey last year, and was apparently “taken with her soulful, melancholy voice“. She commented: “I love Lana’s nostalgic references to bygone glamour and the fact that her look is retrospective, yet so modern. This inspired us to create a bag that was timeless, refined, and elegant.”
The Del Rey bag comes in a variety of other colors, like tan, black, burgundy and petrol, with prices starting at $1,000. See more bags after the jump.
