By now we’ve seen enough Balenciaga bags to spot that signature hardware a mile away. So if we had seen this one out on the street and someone would have told us it was a Balenciaga, we wouldn’t have believed them! Unlike many of their other styles, this bag is completely hardware free, and the design is much more basic than those leather moto-style satchels we love. The Balenciaga Edition Ottoman Dupionne Tote is a cream canvas woven tote with contrast yellow leather piping and a circular cut-out handle. We think it would make a great bag for the beach, or some other summer outing, but we’re wondering why it’s priced at $1,235. That’s quite high for a simple canvas tote, no? If we were going to spend more than 1,200 bucks on a Balenciaga, we’d much rather spend it on a classic leather bag, like this Arena Classic First.
What do you think? Is it haute – worth the $1,235 price tag; or not – ridiculously overpriced?
