And the collaborations keep on coming. WWD reports that Italian accessory brand Furla has collaborated with Saks Fifth Avenue to create an exclusive collection of high-end luxury bags. Furla‘s core contemporary line consists of leather and embossed leather goods (like this one) priced at around $500 but the Furla for Saks collection will range from $1,200 to $1,900. Why the price jump? Well, the six piece collection of small, medium and large satchels will be made of exotic python (one in gray; and one in brown), and textured and smooth full-grain leather versions that will come in black, white, brown, metallic bronze, orange, red and blue. All come with interchangeable straps to wear crossbody style.
Furla for Saks Fifth Avenue will be available November 1, exclusively at 20 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online at SaksFifthAvenue.com
Tommaso Bruso, Furla’s chief executive officer, commented:
“This project really positions the brand in the design arena, somewhere we’ve never been. The reality is that there’s an affordable luxury problem. In the market, she [our customer] goes to work every day and she needs a designer bag – but one that can be used every day.”
Cody Kondo, Saks Fifth Avenue’s senior vice president and general merchandising manager of accessories, said of the partnership:
“Our teams have been working diligently for the past year to bring this collection to life. The aesthetic of the handbags are modern and chic, with exceptional craftsmanship.”
