Yves Saint Laurent is not just committed to designing beautiful luxury goods; they’re committed to social responsibility as well. YSL recently announced the launch of its limited edition ‘Muse Two Artisanal Recycled‘ bag, which is available from April, 2011 online at ysl.com in the U.S. and U.K as well as in select flagship Yves Saint Laurent stores.
The bags will only be produced in a limited run of sixty, and each is uniquely made by women artisans of Burkina Faso, with a technique that creates a fabric made of recycled plastic bags and woven cotton. They’re the women of the Gafreh Association, supported by ‘Les Filles du Facteur‘ (a “non-profit organization that aims to realize, promote and sustain the social, cultural and artistic values akin to women and children who face difficulty around the world“). Yves Saint Laurent exclusively procured this fabric at fair trade and fashioned it into the ‘Muse Two Artisanal Recycled‘ bag.
We love the marriage of this pretty innovative technique with the classic YSL Muse bag. Will you be buying one?
