It looks like handbags run deep in the Mellon family. You may know Tamara Mellon, famous for founding luxury handbag brand Jimmy Choo, but her ex-husband Matthew Mellon, along with his spouse Nicole Hanley Mellon, are handbag designers in their own right. They recently teamed up with Japanese handbag brand, Samantha Thavasa (famous for its collaborations with the likes of Paris and Nicky Hilton, Beyonce Knowles and Tinsley Mortimer), to create a limited-edition line of bags for Spring 2011. The bags come in a variety of neutral canvas, black embossed croc and metallic leathers in a variety of the usual silhouettes – top handle satchels (The Sneaky Cheeky Overnight Bag), drawstring totes (The Snobby Picnic bag), chain-strap shoulder bags (The Insider) and wristlets (The White Tie Donut), to name a few. All bags feature a decorative metal ‘M’ logo plate.
The collection launches today (Feb. 1, 2011) and will be available in the Samantha Thavasa boutique in New York on Madison Avenue. The bags are priced from $225 – $435.
