Haute or Not: Yves Saint Laurent Mini Charm Leather Bag

We’ve come to know what to expect of Yves Saint Laurent in terms of handbags. From the flat Tribute to the Downtown hobo, the Easy and Muse satchels and the Roady hobo, sleek lines and classic styling are the common characteristics of YSL handbags. And they typically come in rich hues of red, emerald green, deep navy and black. So we were thrown for a loop when we came upon the Yves Saint Laurent Mini Charm Leather Bag. To start, the color is blah - a grey/tan tone that is meant to look weatherd but looks dingy instead. It’s a small leather bag that zips closed, with a 5½” chain-link strap, as well as a logo charm chain under the surface of the leather. It’s not particularly identifiable as a YSL, and maybe that’s a good thing. It’s a different idea, yes, but throwing a chain under some leather does not a luxury bag make.
