Ashlee Simpson Wentz moves into Melrose and on to Chanel

I’ve been so consumed with handbag news, sample sales and shopping events that I completely missed some huge TV news. My favorite hit show from the 90’s, Melrose Place, has been greenlit by The CW and is already on the fall schedule! Back in the 90’s, FOX aired 90210 with its Melrose Place spinoff one after the other and so it will be on the CW this fall. I haven’t really watched 90210 version 2.0 because I wasn’t that impressed with the few episodes I did see, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Melrose Place 2.0 will be just as great as the first one. Already I’m hooked since I learned two of my favorite characters (Michael and Sydney Mancini played by Thomas Calabro and Laura Leighton) will be re-appearing but I was kinda skeptical when I discovered Ashlee Simpson Wentz would also be starring in the show. I am a fan of her music, but acting? That, I’m not too sure about. But anyway, her role on Melrose is said to explain her dyed red hair. And maybe it also explains her recent style evolution. We always knew big sis Jessica Simpson was a fashionista who loved her designer bags but Ashlee used to be more of an individualist when it came to fashion and style. Maybe it’s the influence of Melrose, or the fact that she’s now more in the limelight than her big sis but that black Chanel purse she’s carrying is way more evolved than the lip-synching lil’ Ashlee we once knew.
