Coach has always been such a classic brand to me. I loved their bags so much back in the day – the sturdy leather, perfect stitching, chunky brass hardware and absence of logos, except for on the embossed leather keychain/tag. Carrying a Coach made me feel so ‘grown-up’. But then the brand took a turn experimenting with cartoonish logos and almost going the way of Dooney & Burke. So I’m happy to see Coach making its way back to the brand I once loved. It still maintains its ‘well-made bag’ status but with a more adultly-feminine feel. Coach’s Parker Handbags from its Spring Collection especially display this new aesthetic as the bags are very ladylike and pretty.
They make me think of everyone dressed up for church on Easter Sunday – chic and colorful with a touch of understated glamour. For the Parker handbags, Coach incorporated opulent leathers with pretty pastels, Pop-art prints and muted metallic colors and a bunch of sumptuous new shapes. The basic silhouettes are still there but ‘accessorized’ with gentle pleats, twisted handles and kiss lock closures. I love them all – the multiple sized satchels, shoulder bags, mini shoulder bags and small flap bags with drawstring closures, chain straps, twisted handles, pleating and turnlock closures. Prices range from $258-$798. Check them out for yourself at Coach.com.
