Although Chloé bags never seemed to bounce back to the days of the hugely popular Paddington, the brand has been making some strides in terms of design and the ‘Ethel’ Tote is one of their great new Spring bags. Maybe it’s not so much the design that’s attractive, (and certainly it’s not the name) but the pairing of the washed purple/berry-colored lambskin and goat leather with a contrast orange handle is lovely. It’s a bag I could see Michelle Obama carrying – you know how she loves to play with color pairings. The oversized rectangular gold hardware adds a touch of glam to this perfectly slouchy casual bag. The roomy square shape is just right for a day bag, to carry your books, papers, magazines, etc. along with a change of shoes and other essentials, and it has a top zip closure which I believe is essential in a large tote. And the hue is just right for Spring. Measures 15″W x 15 1/2″H x 11 1/2″D; 7″ strap drop.
